During this meeting, the local elected officials made a strong commitment to openness and collaboration with civil society through the use of digital technology. The approach is part of the Local Open GovLab (LOG) project implemented in partnership with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). It has been a long road to get to this point and it is far from over. </p><p>Currently, AfricTivists is conducting evaluation missions in the 7 town halls in order to collect opinions and data on the lessons learned, the strengthening of the project components, among others. Thus, 4 months after the end of this first phase, a mission is dispatched in order to assess the results of the assisted path to open governance, but also to discuss the challenges faced by these communities for better participatory governance and better access to information. The purpose of the mission is to assess the momentum already gained in moving towards open governance, and consequently to work resolutely towards meeting the criteria for these communities to join the Open Governance Partnership (OGP).</p><p>During this mission, the coordination of AfricTivists will give laptops to local authorities of the 7 beneficiary communities. This gesture is a response to a request expressed by the local authorities who complained about not having technical and computer facilities to better do open local governance. Durante esta reunión, los cargos electos locales se comprometieron firmemente con la apertura y la colaboración con la sociedad civil, utilizando la tecnología digital. Esto forma parte del proyecto Local Open GovLab (LOG) realizado en colaboración con la National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Ha sido un largo camino para llegar a este punto y está lejos de terminar. </p><p>Actualmente, AfricTivists está llevando a cabo misiones de evaluación en los 7 ayuntamientos para recoger opiniones y datos sobre las lecciones aprendidas, el fortalecimiento de los componentes del proyecto, entre otros. Así, 4 meses después de la finalización de esta primera fase, se envía una misión para evaluar los resultados del viaje asistido para la gobernanza abierta, pero también para debatir los retos a los que se enfrentan estas comunidades para una mejor gobernanza participativa y un mejor acceso a la información. Se trata de evaluar el impulso que ya se ha dado para avanzar hacia la gobernanza abierta y, en consecuencia, trabajar con determinación para cumplir los criterios de adhesión de estas comunidades a la Asociación para la Gobernanza Abierta (OGP).</p><p>Durante esta misión, la coordinación de AfricTivists entregará ordenadores portátiles a las autoridades locales de las 7 comunidades beneficiarias. Este gesto responde a una petición expresada por las autoridades locales, que se quejaban de no disponer de los equipos técnicos e informáticos necesarios para realizar mejor la gobernanza local abierta. Ceci, pour évaluer la dynamique déjà enclenchée dans l’optique d’aller vers une gouvernance ouverte, et par conséquent travailler résolument à l’atteinte des critères d’adhésion de ces collectivités au Partenariat pour la Gouvernance Ouverte (PGO).</p><p>Durant cette mission, la coordination de AfricTivistes remettra des ordinateurs portables aux autorités locales des 7 collectivités bénéficaires. Ce geste constitue une réponse à une demande exprimée par les autorités locales qui se plaignaient de ne pas avoir de dispositif technique et informatique pour mieux faire de la gouvernance locale ouverte.
