Viladecans: Testers of the citizen service model
Testers was born from the need to evaluate municipal services and propose improvements to adapt them to the needs of citizenship, being the citizens themselves responsible for proposing improvements through testing workshops and maintain an active participant base to reach the largest number of citizens of Viladecans.
Methodology
Initial Design: Planning of the practice.
Communication and Recruitment Campaigns: Attract interested in participating in the workshops.
Selection of participants: Ensuring representative and diverse groups.
Testing Workshops (October to December 2024): starting with workshops with internal staff, to verify the dynamics and detect undesired aspects and then conduct workshops with the citizenship.
Follow-up and Implementation: To implement the improvements proposed by the participants as reflected in the reports of the sessions.
Communication
Use of social networks, posters with QR codes, flyers and dissemination by civic agents on the street, highlighting the latter for being very close to the citizenship.
Innovation
Internal: Previous workshop with technicians of the City Council, where the technicians responsible for the services and other departments were involved to replicate the dynamics.
Social: Open database and citizenship at the center of decisions.
Inclusion
Recruitment with civic agents to include people who do not use social networks, do not master technologies or have language difficulties. Inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in workshops.
Evaluation
Evaluation of dynamics, space, schedule, usefulness, learning, desire to continue and recommendations. Evaluation of proposals for improvement and communication of progress.
Follow-up and Sustainability
Annual meeting, communication campaigns, constant coordination and mixed funding.
Impacts and Results
Participation of 170 registered participants, 90% attendance, diversity of profiles, inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and 162 improvement proposals collected.
