Tungurahua: Capacity Building for Children, Adolescents, and Youth in the Areas of Educational Robotics and Competitions through STEAM Education
To promote the rights of youth and their proposals for various issues, and as part of the commemoration of Youth Day, the participatory and collaborative space called "MARAKUNA EXPRÉSATE, NUESTRA HORA, NUESTRO MOMENTO" was implemented, with the following actions taking place throughout the month of August:
- Honorary witnesses at the position of the Tungurahua Andean Youth Parliament.
- "Tungurahuense Youth Forums."
- "From Youth to Youth," a cinema forum that was complemented by the delivery of letters written by young leaders from all over the province to motivate young people confined in the adolescent offenders center.
- Youth Reforestation, with 500 native trees planted in the La Vaquería area of the San Antonio de Pasa Parish.
- "Robotics Technology Meetings" driven by youth who are part of technological and entrepreneurial clubs.
- MARAKUNA Fairs and Concerts, a space created by youth leaders for showcasing artistic, technological, and cultural expressions, as well as exhibiting products from young entrepreneurs.
These activities were made possible through the collaborative work of public and private institutions such as the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), the National Council for Intergenerational Equality, the Ministry of Labor Relations, the Rights Protection Council of the Ambato Autonomous Decentralized Government, the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control, Cuesta Holguín Foundation, the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Worship, Impactex Corporation, and the Red Cross.
Youth leaders focused on capacity building as a means to change the social reality. In coordination with the Citizen Training Center, 987 young people participated: 504 men and 483 women, in 11 Citizen Leadership, Communication, Public Policy, Rights, and Entrepreneurship training processes in the Cantons of Quero, San Andrés de Píllaro, Cevallos, and Ambato.
