Maia: SOBROTHERHOOD - Rebuild the lost sense of community in the neighbourhood of Sobreiro by reconnecting with nature through biophilic design
SOBROTHERHOOD - Rebuild the lost sense of community in the neighborhood of Sobreiro by reconnecting with nature through biophilic design, is a project that aimed to model and test, in the neighborhood of Sobreiro, the activation of sustainable socio-economic ecosystems at a local level, based on the pluralistic potential of biophilic design and the guiding principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
Through a diverse set of co-creation actions, which promoted contact between a selected group of residents over the age of 55 and the school community, the aim was to help increase the sense of belonging and improve the concept of community in Bairro do Sobreiro, in the heart of the city of Maia.
Taking Bairro do Sobreiro as its stage, more specifically a public space that currently has no function within the neighborhood, it was used as a tool for social involvement and sustainable development. By applying NEB principles via biophilic design, the set of co-creation activities carried out resulted in an inspiring and more sustainable vision of the future for this community.
