Government of Aragón: SeniorLAB – Innovating in Community for the Well-being of Older People

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

SeniorLAB was a citizen lab supported by the Government of Aragón to co-create innovative solutions focused on the well-being of older people. Over three intensive days, older people, professionals, social organizations, students, and citizens worked together to design real projects using open methodologies of public innovation.

The lab began with open calls to society that allowed the selection of five initiatives and the creation of diverse intergenerational teams. Through mentoring, prototyping, and collaborative work, the participants developed proposals related to community participation, care, social technology, support networks, and intergenerational education.

The experience transformed the traditional role of older people, positioning them as protagonists and leaders of social innovation processes. Beyond the projects generated, SeniorLAB strengthened community networks, created alliances between institutions and citizens, and consolidated a replicable model of participation based on collective intelligence.

The process demonstrated that public innovation improves when built from life experience, professional knowledge, and open collaboration, contributing to more inclusive, participatory, and cohesive societies.
