Granada: Impronta Granada

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

Impronta Granada is a stable multilevel governance ecosystem, led by the Provincial Council and the University of Granada, that connects the academic knowledge of the University of Granada with the real needs of municipalities and citizens. The initiative acts as a public infrastructure for open innovation, designed to go beyond occasional collaboration and transform the territory into a living laboratory where public policies are co-designed on scientific foundations, aligned with the Urban Agendas and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the heart of the project is a digital platform (improntagranada.es) that functions as a single entry point linking research supply with territorial demand. This tool not only records activities but also systematizes the flow of knowledge to address provincial challenges. The methodology, based on the Science for Policy model, enables researchers, municipal technicians, and civil society to collaborate in Living Labs and Regional Councils. In these spaces, participation is binding: scientific knowledge is transformed into prototypes and tangible solutions that directly improve local quality of life.

The model stands out for its ability to mobilize the entire university community, integrating researchers and students into service-learning experiences, together with the Provincial Council of Granada and municipal governments. This collaborative structure has enabled the attraction of more than €2 million in European-funded projects and generated significant social impact, reaching thousands of people.

Beyond the numbers, Impronta Granada succeeds in institutionalizing public innovation, demonstrating that the university can be a driving force for participatory democracy. By systematizing collaboration, the initiative ensures traceability, transparency, and the social return of knowledge, positioning the province as a reference in exportable public innovation.

Thanks to its resilient design, this methodology is now replicated at the regional level through Impronta Andalucía, consolidating a working model capable of adapting to diverse territorial contexts and ensuring—through evidence and dialogue—a more sustainable, cohesive, and democratic future.
