Táplánszentkereszt: Green Táplánszentkereszt – Community Participation for a Climate-Conscious Village

Green Táplánszentkereszt – Participatory Climate Action in a Small Rural Municipality involved creating a participatory framework that enables residents to actively contribute to environmental protection and climate action at the local level. Initiated by the Municipality of Táplánszentkereszt, the practice responds to the growing need for ecological transition in rural areas while strengthening democratic participation and community cooperation.

The initiative was designed to involve a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, young people, local civil society organisations, schools, volunteers, and municipal representatives. Through community forums, participatory workshops, and collaborative planning processes, citizens were invited to identify environmental challenges affecting their settlement and to co-create practical solutions for improving sustainability.

The participatory process combined dialogue and concrete action. Residents had the opportunity not only to share ideas and priorities but also to participate in community-based environmental activities such as tree planting, revitalisation of green areas, and awareness-raising initiatives promoting sustainable practices. This approach helped strengthen environmental responsibility while also reinforcing social cohesion within the community.
