2027 Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"
21th Edition
Open vote on the finalist proposalsAbout this process
Welcome to the process to select the best practices in local democracy 2027.
The "Best Practice in Citizen Participation" Award is an award given annually by the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (OIDP) to recognise successful experiences led by local and regional governments in participatory and deliberative democracy, public participation and democratic innovation.
The aim of this Award is to recognise the experiences that local and regional governments implement in the field of participatory democracy and democratic innovation. In this way, the Award seeks to give visibility to these practices, facilitate exchange with other local and regional governments and showcase examples that can be adapted and replicated, fostering networking and peer-to-peer learning.
The evaluation of the candidatures for this 21st OIDP Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation" will be carried out by two juries of experts and through an open public vote on this platform.
In a first phase, the first jury will evaluate the eligible applications and select up to 40 finalists. In the final phase, the second jury will evaluate the finalist applications in detail, alongside an open public vote.
This year, the evaluation and awarding of nominations will be organised into five categories:
Democratic and Peaceful Communities
Urban Management and Public Space
Social Inclusion and Care
Ecological Transition and Environment
Civic Tech
