PB Amadora was launched in 2010 and from the third edition onwards adopted a co-decisional model and gave citizens the power to vote to choose the winning proposals. The Municipality has made available a participatory platform -

OP 2023 introduces the thematic PB and, following the work of preserving the environment and seeking to make the city environmentally sustainable, the chosen theme is the Environment in the areas of: Renewable energy. Sustainable mobility. Smarter and more sustainable urban cleaning. Enhancement of biodiversity and ecosystem. The allocated budget is €500,000, spread over 2023 and 2024, and each proposal cannot exceed €150,000 of estimated investment. The presentation phase totaled 43 submitted proposals, which were technically analyzed by the municipal services and 3 proposals were put to the vote. The voting phase is running until May 31 and the winners will be part of the Great Options of the 2023 / Following Years Plan.
The winning proposals gave rise to projects with diversified areas of intervention, such as: implementation of a network of walking trails; placement of exercise equipment for people with disabilities in urban parks; creation of a park for dogs; requalification of public space; intangible projects in the cultural area, the GUIARTE project, an arts program for children in the 1st and 2nd year of basic education, young people at risk and special education institutions; the “Artistic Workshops” project with free courses and artistic and technical workshops; the “Holidays in the City 16+” program for young people aged between 16 and 25 to spend their free time in a real work context, with a grant of a maximum value of €100; the digital project "Along the Paths of Water" that makes known, in a playful and healthy way, the heritage of the City of Amadora, starting from the Águas Livres Aqueduct and providing a leaflet with three routes that show the purpose of the building, different construction phases, the Aqueduct in Amadora and some curiosities; enhancement of the provision of assistance to citizens, such as the acquisition of rescue vehicles for the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Amadora and Portuguese Red Cross - Delegation of Amadora; rehabilitation of the exterior of basic education establishments; environmental preservation, with the “Amadora a Compostar” project, integrated in the implementation and promotion of the composting process in the city, and the “EcoPontas e PapaChicletes” project, which allowed the installation of equipment to prevent the ends of of cigarettes and chewing gum will end up on the floor.
The execution of the winning projects, until 31 March 2022, resulted in an investment of €5,139,247.95 and in 99 completed projects, corresponding to a financial execution rate of 71% and a physical execution rate of 82%.
The PB Amadora is a process that has been consolidated in a perspective of constant deepening of good practices to encourage the participation of citizens in the management of the municipality, allowing them to actively intervene in municipal budgets and in promoting the improvement of life in the city.
