2023 Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"
17th Edition
Zaio : Women leaderships
The "Femme leadership" project is a training program for women in the province of Nador in Morocco's Oriental region, run by the Mobadara association for sustainable development and tourism, based in the urban commune of ZAIO. This project is financed by the "Fond d'appui pour encourager participation des femmes" of the Ministry of the Interior.
It is a first experience in our city that was carried out during the period October 2019 until February 2021; about 50 women benefited from this initiative which is characterized by three training sessions;
The first training session was organized on December 7 and 8, 2019 on "the 2011 constitution and mechanisms for women's political participation"; with a training duration of 16h.
The second training session was held between December 28 and 29, 2019 on "communication techniques and mechanisms for managing local issues" with a training duration of 16h.
The third training session was organized between February 2 and 3, 2019 on "leadership and advocacy strategy" with a duration of 16h of training.
A final three-month phase was devoted to practice; developing project ideas on local development and communication mechanisms. The participants presented their work at the project's closing ceremony, receiving training certificates at the end.
The results of this experience are encouraging; women who have benefited from our project have been able to incorporate themselves into social and political life, taking part in elections and setting up associations and cooperatives.
