2025 Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"
19th Edition
Porto-Novo: Civic education
Citizen education is about getting young people to protect public property and manage it properly, preserving the community's assets, promoting social well-being, training young people in vocational education and fostering the well-being of children in schools, protecting the environment, advocating to the authorities that the vulnerable be taken into account in the development process.
Through our practice, many young people are encouraged to commit to living together and to collectively seek answers to society's problems. Addressing issues of power and law, as well as the causes and effects of civic and political action.
This practice enables us to promote living together and to work with civil society and political players to find solutions to society's problems. It addresses questions of power and law, as well as the causes and effects of civic and political action.
We encourage civic and political action. This involves acquiring the essential skills to participate actively in democratic life and the defense of human rights. The effects of political action on the economy, society and the environment are also addressed (for example, the impact of certain democratic decisions on human rights and good governance).
We aim to empower individuals to participate actively and independently in society. They share a commitment to democracy and human rights as the basis for a better life for all.
