Nkongsamba: PDAFJED-Youth

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

The WYDE approach of our initiative was to facilitate the access of young people and women, on the one hand, to decision-making bodies, and to promote their participation not only in the development but also in the monitoring of local public policies, actively involving the African diaspora, on the other hand, as a guarantee of the added value of this international project. This action is part of a larger program aimed at supporting the empowerment of millions of young people and women, particularly in their civic and democratic engagement for their sustainable development in the Central African sub-region, for a better scaling-up of the approach defended here. An action to stimulate women and youth for their civic engagement and for participatory citizen development in Central Africa.

PDAFJED-Youth is one of the projects funded by the European Union under the WYDE program. Its action aims to identify and disseminate ways to motivate citizens to be aware of the effects of their participation in civic and democratic actions, both at the local and national levels. The simultaneous implementation of this project is carried out jointly by Civil Society Organizations:

  • Mainly: The Pan-African Student Associations Group in Cameroon (RAEC) in collaboration with the Nkongsamba 1st Municipality.

  • Patriotic Entrepreneurs Generation Cameroon (PEGCAM) at the Cameroon level.

  • The Association for the Modernization of Gabonese Agriculture (AMAG) at the Gabon level.

This project is supported by several government institutions, including the ministries responsible for youth in both countries and other CSOs. The aim/objective of this action is to encourage women and youth to contribute to democratic stability through their civic engagement. It is particularly about mobilizing the collective consciousness of women and youth to contribute to decision-making for a participatory and inclusive development of their respective regions. This approach aims at promoting social peace and the growth of sustainable democracy.
