2023 Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"

Within the framework of the process of the possible transformation of the elementary school carried out by the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, a broad consultation process was carried out with different social actors to rethink the education of the referred level.
In this regard, between July and September 2022, the General Directorate for Citizen Participation and Outreach, in collaboration with the relevant areas, carried out 16 actions to include citizen participation in the process of developing the new curriculum design for primary education.
The actions were aimed at different actors involved and/or interested in the project, i.e. managers, teachers of different levels, students, families of children attending primary school and citizens in general.
The development of the project was organized in four stages and through different participatory devices, depending on the type of actors involved. Among the devices, opinion surveys, face-to-face and virtual meetings and playful encounters stand out. A total of 9,603 responses were recorded on the opinion surveys and 342 citizens attended the meetings.
