2024 Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"
18th Edition
About this process
Welcome to the process to select the best practices in local democracy 2024
The Award "Best Practice in Citizen Participation" is an award given annually by the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) to recognize public policies implemented by local and regional governments.
The aim of this Award is to recognise the experiences that local and regional governments implement in the field of participatory democracy. In this way, the aim is to give visibility to these practices in a more direct way, to bring them closer to other local governments and to serve as examples that could be reproduced, favouring networking.
Nominations may be submitted until 15 May 2024, as the deadline. The evaluation of the candidatures for this 18th IOPD Best Practice Award for Citizen Participation will be made both by juries of experts and by the citizen vote through this platform.
In a first phase the jury will evaluate and select 50% of the entries, with a maximum of 40 selected for the final phase. In the final phase the jury will analyse the selected applications in detail and there will also be an open vote.
This year the evaluation and the awarding of nominations will be organized into five categories:
1) Building more democratic and peaceful cities and territories
2) Urban management and public space
3) Gender and care
4) Ecological Transition and Environment
5) Civic Tech and AI.
